NHJ sees the lava as a powerful force that begs new life and marks a change or growth for our Big Island. Like a teenager. We speak of positive developments that are encouraging and leisurely friendly.

For Poetry Submissions:
- 20 - 80 Words; up to 380 Words.
- Theme: Hawaii Life (ocean/beach/lake and/or water recreational activities; country life pasture/farming/ranching/roping and other sports enriching experiences, and exciting storytelling revolving around active volcanoes.
For Article Submissions:
- 200 - 340 Words; up to 520 Words.
